Achievement and School Learning Plan

Student Achievement

Methods of measuring student achievement at Stonecrest align with board and Ministry of Education expectations. Ongoing classroom assessment is used to determine student strengths, needs and next steps. Assessment includes data collected through observations, conversations and products and is embedded in classroom learning. Our staff work collaboratively to ensure program implementation in all subject areas of the Ontario Curriculum. Teaching and learning is differentiated in order to promote the success of all students. Students with exceptionalities have Individual Education Plans (IEPs) that target specific individualized learning goals.

School Improvement Plan

The Stonecrest School Improvement Plan aligns with district objectives in the areas of Mathematics and Wellness. The 2018-19 objectives are as follows:

1 - Mathematics
If we, as math teachers, use Number Talks at least 3 times per week, then students' knowledge of math facts and flexibility with numbers and operations will improve.
If we, as non-math teachers, incorporate Number Talk hand signals into other subject areas, we will see greater participation of reluctant students engage in learning.

2 - Wellness
If we, as staff, explicitly teach conflict resolution strategies (WITS, Respectful Communication), then we will see an increase in students' ability to
self-regulate inside and outside of the classroom.
